Kathy Coviello and her App Cadet have been doing well training and showing Dressage in the area. Last year Cadet, at 21 years young, won the VADA “Elder Statesman Award” for the oldest horse with the highest score, and this year they are continuing their winning ways! They are currently 3rd in ACAAP standings for dressage. Last month at Morven Park Cadet scored a 2nd 3rd and 4th. As Kathy reports “… plus we earned the ‘qualifying score’ we needed at Test 4 for the USDF Horse of the Year (HOY) awards (Appaloosa). We also earned 5 ACAAP points for the Appaloosa Club. We need 7 more to get our next level of recognition.”
Also doing well is Brenda Gillies on her Games horses. At what has been the largest Regional Appaloosa show in the country, the Keystone App show, Brenda received a 3rd in open figure 8 (out of 31 entries) and won the non-pro barrels on her lighning fast black horse Mitch.
On the local level Sharon Fiel and her mare Lucy were Champion Amateur, and Champion Senior Western Pleasure at the VAHA show at Rosemont Farm. Even winning the payback Western Pleasure Class sponsored by the VaApHC.
From dressage to speed events to pleasure, our appaloosas are versatile! Send me highlights of your appaloosas so we can share and enjoy each other’s accomplishments. Way to go everyone! Enjoy the ride.
Visit the PHOTO section in the online album, to see pictures of Cadet (App club folder) and Lucy.

After checking all of the score cards and entry forms, several mistakes were found. Battlefield Equestrian Society won the club award. New Plaques have been ordered and will be mailed as soon as they are ready. The results posting to the web site are correct. We apologize for the delay, but several questions had to be answered before we could finalize the results. This was the first time this computer program was used and we had a couple of glitches. We are correcting them for the August ride. Thanks for riding with us and hope to see you in August. Congratulations to BES and all of our winners!
